About Us

Donald Hutchison started developing Kinlochlaich Garden Plant Centre in 1975, and it is now run with the help of his daughter, Fiona Hutchison. It has evolved to become one of the leading Garden Plant Centres in Scotland!

We have an extensive range of hardy plants, to suit many conditions, and are always trialling something different, interesting or unusual.

Our experienced and friendly staff can give you advice, as well as informative help on habit, growth and flowering time. We can often show you a specimen growing within the gardens. Our advice stems from experience.

Well known author and journalist Peter Irvine describes our gardens thus: “ At Kinlochlaich House, Port Appin, the gardens in which the nursery is set are an inspiration. This delightful place is one of the attractions of the west Highlands…Here is where to load a car with Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Camellias and all the things you’ve seen growing so spectacularly in this mild moderate climate.”
